where do you blog!?

this is it, this is where i sit to blog...if only it looked like this all the time! this is the 'i have to clear it off so i can take a good picture view!' the desk is usually covered in mail that i have to go through, bills to pay, etc.  i have a view of a really nice couch that i don't see because it's covered in clean, folded laundry to put away. and it doesn't bother me a bit while i sit and blog and ignore the messy view.  thanks for stopping by and happy blogging!

settling in...

We are coming to the end of our second week of 1st grade for this guy.  He LOVES it! His teacher is wonderful and he is getting settled into a routine.  (mommy is getting used to getting up, dressed, out the door for car line in a timely manner! :)  God has blessed us with an amazing child who strives at doing his best.  I'm looking forward to all his discovery and wonder he will experience this year as a big first grader.

His little brother on the other hand is not so keen on starting preschool.  He will start pre-k next week and is still protesting.  I know it will be good for him but he is such a mama's boy.  He's happy just to hang out with me all day.  We have had some good time together while big brother is at school and he gets one on one time.  Wish us luck as he adjusts to 5 days a week at school!

t-shirts...

well, i've been busy getting everything in order for our next big thing! if you don't know me and our family, you may not know that my hubby is a CRNA and has written a book about anesthesia.  It is geared toward anesthesia students who may be overwhelmed in the OR and are transitioning into the workplace after school.  my hubby is a fantastic writer and i'm so proud of him.  his book has been out for over a year and is doing well after being self published with no formal advertising! it's all word of mouth and the students who have it in their possession all agree that it is priceless information!  all that being said, we are launching t-shirts based loosely off his book.  a few little quotes, maybe will lead into a full blown t-shirt business. who knows.  we are just taking it one step at a time.  so if you have a minute, jump over to our new site and tell someone about it! they mostly pertain to anesthesia but i love the one that says 'chaos is optional'  that is so true in any area of life! happy monday and hope you have a great week.  i'm just going to sit back and hold my breath in hopes that word will spread about our oh so comfy tees and new business venture! :) check it out!

a little project to make me smile

I've had this planter for more than 4 years now and it's been looking tired and worn out.  So I decided it needed a little facelift.
...and this guy, he was FREE! yep, i have great neighbors who pass things my way and I have 5 of these babies sitting in my garage waiting for some TLC!
Insert my trusty helper and a 2 dollar can of satin black spray paint from Wal Mart!
5 minutes and a finger cramp later, these planters were singing to me!
aaahhhh, much better
some creative transplating of an old boxwood from another location and a few dollars worth of flowers and I'm happy than a...well, just happy!
I love it.

and yes, it's august, and yes, it's 100 degrees with 98% humidity, and yes i'm crazy for buying more flowers. it's a sickness with me, my green thumb makes me a little crazy.

At least I bought the ones that say SUN! :)

And I'm totally LOVING my new garden flag, just in time for SAINTS football!

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer and the rapidly approaching school year and fall busyness.  The summer was too fast and will feel hot here for another month at least. School started last week for us and I'm a little upset at feeling rushed with enjoying time at home with my not so little ones. sigh. For now, I will enjoy my flowers and fresh planters and start dreaming of pumpkins and cooler weather!

what i wore wednesday...err, oh yeah, today is friday isn't it?

...better late than never?!  so this post was supposed to be on Wednesday but I've been busy sewing away and running to hobby lobby 10 times! i love the posts from The Pleated Poppy and her what i wore Wednesdays! i stalk her site and keep saying i will join in but haven't...so here it is...late and pathetic but oh well!  in an effort to step it up as a mommy and how i look, i will try to take some pics and post with her on Wednesdays!

I LOVE this shirt! got it on clearance at Target for 10 bucks!  This was a 'take the time to wash AND dry my hair...a 30 minute ordeal' day...(church on Sunday) Yes, we wear jeans to church!

I wear flip-flops EVERY SINGLE DAY!! I have church flops and everyday flops!

when i get really crazy i add a striped cardigan over my fav gray shirt and call it a date night outfit!  please note on this "date night" our children were present and jackson took the above picture!

when in doubt...add a scarf from wal-mart and a cardigan.  not very creative but covers my mommy muffin top!  once again, a gray t-shirt.

the every-other day look above...pony-tail or clip...not thinking it looks as good as i thought.  I think I wore that shirt 3 times this week...sigh

me attempting a headband...didn't even wear it out of the bedroom...hated it!

holy smokes...i wear gray almost everyday! BORING!! and yes, flip-flops everyday too. the first pic is a church day and I'm still in jeans...i really need to step it up a little. This last pic is a pic of my FAVORITE jeans ever! SO comfy but i guess they are looking worn too. they are from the Limited from too far back to remember...maybe 6 years ago?

jump over to one of my favorite blogs EVER and see The Pleated Poppy and her What I Wore Wednesday.

My baby started first grade!

I am in total denial that my first born is 6 1/2 and started first grade yesterday! He was counting down the days and couldn't wait to get there.  He wanted to be the first one in the classroom.  After I took some pictures and lingered for a minute to make sure he was settled into the class he looked at me and said, "ok, mom, I think it's time for you to go now."  sigh, sniff, seriously?? you're good and don't need to kiss your mama and tell her that you need her?  He was ready to start his day, assert his independence and get on with the school work.  I guess I'm glad he's so secure and excited about school!

GOLF CAMP

so what do you do if you want your kids to pay their way through college on a sports scholarship?? i don't know but maybe signing them up for golf camp at age 4 will help!! :)
(of course it had to be 99 degrees here in Louisiana this week! poor baby is so hot but having a blast!)

Tuesdays Unwrapped

"Hey mom, look at the bumblebees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Logan is always on the look out for something that is wiggly or flying. We were driving in the neighborhood and I was almost ready to pull into our driveway. I stopped. I usually just say uh-huh and nod and keep driving. By why couldn't we "look at the bumblebees?" My heart sank as I realized I had missed so many moments, so many opportunities to let the boys explore their world and LOOK at what they noticed. I didn't have anything I had to do, just an afternoon of mom stuff like laundry that could wait, so we stopped, and LOOKED, and listened. I was tempted to complain that it was 98 degrees and almost noon, but I didn't, and they didn't care. I hesitated and resisted shouting the over-bearing comments that are my usual such as, "watch out, look for fire-ants, don't step there, be careful!" I kept my mouth shut and let them be boys. I stood back and watched at their wonder. I then ran back to my car and grabbed my camera that lives in my purse. They didn't notice or care. They were too excited about the flying and crawling things they were watching. And my heart was filled with contentment as I realized that stopping, even for just a minute, even on the side of the road in an empty lot, is such a blessing. So I will STOP more and learn to enjoy and wonder at the small things...
