Fall Decor...

I'm finally getting around to putting some fall stuff up. Here is my mantel. I thought it was funny that the camera focused on the balloon in the mirror and not the mantel. I love pumpkins!

The boys sitting on the front porch with a few pumpkins. I usually have 6 or 7 by mid october, so stay tuned.

Run, don't walk, to get this new candle from bath and body works. It is heavenly!

My kitchen table center peice. The tray and lantern are both southern living! I love it!

wordless wednesday...go saints!

The tooth fairy

When Jackson was 2, he fell and hit his mouth on our wood floors. The floor did not give, his tooth did. It died but has stayed intact up until this year. It has slowly discolored as the root dissolved and yesterday the time had come to have it extracted. It was painful for him to brush his teeth with some nerves exposed on the back side so the dentist said it had to come out. Jackson was not happy about this at all and was hoping that a trip to the dentist meant she could fix it, not pull it. When he came home one tooth less in his mouth, he was devistated. A talk about the fairy's visit was no comfort but he finally calmed down and we got him to bed. Here are a few pics from yesterday and this morning. I will have to get used to his new look. The dentist said it could be up to 8 months before the new tooth is ready to come in. sigh.

Just after getting home from the dentist...not a happy camper.

It's fall, y'all!

WoooHoooo! Our first cold front has officially pushed through. It is cool and breezy and wonderful. Well, actually, it's all relative, but I'm loving in! It is 67 degrees this morning and the high is 82. Like I said, it is all relative. The humidity is low which makes today feel like our first fall"ish" day. Yesterday was a blazing summer day with temps in the 90's and kids coming in from playing dripping in sweat and begging for popsicles!
I am dying to get my fall decorations out and up and am so sad that I am not the first one on my street to have adorable pumpkins on my doorstep. I have been out of commission with a back and neck issue and am hoping the next few days will allow me to feel up to climbing in the attic and finding my fall box!
How do you all decorate for fall! Do share!!

I am back at work and loving it. I am still on a few orientation shifts where I am with another nurse just until I learn the ropes at this hospital. I still need to get a little more of my confidence back but it sure is great to be back in scrubs and clocking in to labor and delivery. It is no surprise that watching a baby come into the world is a miracle. I think it is absolutely glorious, fabulous, miraculous, and awe inspiring. I am, however, not only awe inspired but a total softy. I have been in 2 deliveries this week and had to choke away the tears both times. I guess that is why I love what I do. It is such an honor to be with women as they enter into a new phase of their lives. Whether it be their first baby or fifth, it is always so great to see the joy in their faces as they are handed a new bundle! I pray God uses me in this next phase of my life as I transition back into the hospital (only one day a week though) and share in the birthing experience of countless women to come.

Life seems to be flying by at the speed of light! School is back in session, the boys are busy and loving it! I decided after 5 years at home with the boys that it was time to get my foot back in the door and go back to work. I took a prn labor and delivery job at the local hospital and have been busy with orientation and starting. I am excited to get back into work that I love but only 1 day a week for now. I think it will be great for everyone because I will get out of the house for a little while and use my grown up skills but won't be gone enough for it to affect the boys and my responsibilities to the family! I have LOVED every minute of being a stay at home mom. I am so blessed that my husband has a career that allowed me to devote 100 percent of my time and energy to the boys. I would not have had it any other way.
So if I don't pop in as often, it is just because life is flying by and I haven't stopped to post. Hope everyone has a wonderful week!!

Wow, where does the time go? Just wanted to post a little about my sweet and precious first born. He is so amazing, so smart, so unique. He warms my heart and brings a smile to my face each and everyday. I love him more with every minute that passes. Isn't is crazy the amount of love we as mom's can have for our children? There is nothing like it. It is out of that love that we want to do what is best for them. It is why we nurture and pour ourselves into their little souls. It is that love that has motivated me to do anything and everything for jackson to help ensure he will thrive and excel in this life. Our spring and summer was filled with therapy, lots of therapy. I have spent endless hours on the phone searching for resources available to help my child who has been labeled and not labeled with so many things. ST, OT, PT, food therapy, sensory therapy, and on and on. There is way too much to put in one post, but just wanted to get some things down on paper, so to speak, to keep a record of where we are. It has been almost 3 years since that initial twinge, that first little voice within that nudged maybe there is something not quite right with our miracle. It was 3 years ago that he had his first evaluation and got an initial diagnosis of expressive language delay. We have since included sensory processing disorder as another "label" for what we are dealing with. Jackson is a good kid. Kind, loving, caring, sensitive, and full of life. He also has some things that pose a challenge to our everyday life. He doesn't like to eat. He has a few foods he will eat regularly and that's it. Any introduction to new foods is usually filled with panic, dread, tears, anxiety, and is just plain terrible. This summer we have really tried to include lots of therapy and encouragement to expand jackson's food repertoire. I am proud to say we are making baby steps and that will hopefully continue. We have expanded from strawberry nutragrain bars, wendy's chicken nuggets, rectangle honey grahams, and blue bell vanilla ice cream. We have added bananas, yogurt (in 2 flavors), mandarin oranges in a cup, butterfinger in and on ice cream at several different places (sonic, dairy queen, and edy's at home), several other ice cream treats like hot fudge sundae at mcdonald's and vanilla scoops at other ice cream shops. He enjoys fruit snacks and has tried 5 or 6 different kinds. Our biggest new accomplishment is eating red delicious apple without being cut or peeled! He bites them and eats the whole thing!!! We have also been thrilled with his expanded variety of chicken, however seem so far from the grilled and healthy chicken that I want him to eat. He will now eat Mcdonald's chicken selects, Times chicken tenders, uncle robert's chicken at Sunrise, and actually pretty much any chicken strips or tenders at any restaurant we go to! That is a huge relief since there aren't wendy's in disney world or at the beach! We have had NO luck with adding any veggies and that is so discouraging, but baby steps. He still enjoys turkey bacon at breakfast at home but will not eat regular bacon when we go out. He won't even look at pizza and we have a LONG way to go before a hamburger is even an option.
Our most recent specialist was a pediatric geneticist and we will see tomorrow what he says about all the lab work they drew last month. We started some vitamins and are hopeful that those will be helpful.
Whew, lots of typing to not say a whole lot. Will follow up some more later.

Happy Anniversary!!

September 8, 2001 I walked down the aisle and married the man of my dreams. He was the one I had been waiting for. I had always prayed that I wouldn't have to be bothered with dating and breaking up and searching for the special guy. And much to my dismay, God heard my prayers and answered them. I made it through high school, college, nursing school, and graduated into the workforce before ever going on that feared first date. (minus my first crush in 9th and 10th grade). My family feared that I had spent too many lonely days in my 24 years of life and worried that I wouldn't find the man for me SOON! Having stood as the MAID of honor at both my sisters weddings, it was my turn, and when it finally came, it was awesome! I get little butterflies in my stomach just thinking about the day our paths crossed, the moment we saw each other for the first time and didn't even know what was in our future. Brushing past each other in an elevator, him coming to the ICU unit where I worked, hoping for a job there too.

The past 8 years have been the most amazingly wonderful and also hard work, but so well worth it. Thank you, baby, for making me the wife and mother I had always dreamed of. Thank you for your strength, security, and love that keeps this family together. You are one in a million ( in so many ways) and I am so blessed that God chose you to be MINE! Happy Anniversary and I'm looking forward to 100 more! I love you with all my heart and look forward to whatever God has planned for us in the future.
