Happy Halloween!

Halloween! My batman is trying to fly and my spiderman thinks he can shoot a web! The boys had so much fun and I was surprised at the costumes they picked this year! We have never watched or played with super heros but that's what they wanted, so that's what they got!  When they were getting ready they said, "mom, what are you going to be?" I had no idea and no plans to dress up.  They requested cinderella and daddy could be prince charming...didn't happen! So a hair tease and some dark lipstick later, I was ready to go!?

Here are all 7 cousins plus one firefly friend who came to our neighborhood to trick-or-treat!

We had a blast this year on our new golf cart! We decorated it for Halloween with lights and spider webs.  The kids had a blast riding and it worked well for tired little ones at the end of the night!

trunk or treat last night at school, fun fest at church this morning, and more trick-or-treating tonight after a neighborhood party...my tummy hurts just thinking about it!!

in the spirit of writing things down so i don't forget, here is one memory about jackson.  when he was 2, his favorite number was 2.  When he turned three, his favorite number changed, yep, to 3! and so on.  here we are with a 6 year old who loves the number 6.  to the point of when he eats, he wants 6 grahm crackers, or 6 chicken nuggets, etc.  heaven help us all when he turns 18!!  anyway, he has shown some OCD tendancies, and i wonder to what extent those will play out as he gets older.  so far, he is thriving at first baptist christian school.  i truly attribute his progress in so many areas with his amazing, God-chosen teachers he has had the last few years.  he's a quirky, small, funny, goofy, and very smart boy that we are so blessed to call ours.  here is a pic from this week...not the best.  poor guy has had croup and fever all week!!

Today is October 1st. For a lot of people it means getting ready for halloween, looking for pumpkin patches, settling in to enjoy some fabulous fall weather and spiced apple cider. But for a lot of other people, it is an amazing month of remembering and recognizing breast cancer awareness month. If you are reading this blog, you are most likely someone who has either had or known someone close that has been touched by breast cancer. A mom, sister, aunt, friend, gramma, or daughter. Everyone has a story.

I had a little scare 2 years ago. I found a lump. It is scary, horrible, and happens to so many. I had it check out. My doctor thought it wasn't anything to worry about, but I still worried. So i had a mammogram and ultrasound! Turns out it is just dense, fibrous tissue. Whew. But now I know what is "normal" for me and I will be able to detect a "change" in my breast tissue during a monthly exam because I know what feels usual for me!

So to kick off this month, I am giving away an entire PINK PACKAGE!! It will have all kinds of goodies in it. -Breast cancer affects 1 in 7 women! (yikes)

-A woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every 3 minutes.

-Most women do not perform monthly breast self exams (early detection is key!)

-Exercise, eat right, and perform monthly breast self-exams, it could save your life!

-If you are over 35, talk to your doctor about a mammogram!
