I love fall...

I love fall, especially when we have cool, breezy days like today that make it feel so wonderful! I always like to do yard work but enjoy sprucing things up and re-mulching for the fall and winter when I don't have as much blooming in the yard. A few pumpkins and some leaves always make the front look inviting but I can't wait for christmas time when the lights and everything go up too!! Hope you have a great weekend! And don't forget to jump over to www.kellyskornerblog.com for more fall fun.

”Show Us Your Life with Kelly's Korner”
Wedding Receptions and Honeymoon!
I don't know about you but I love Kelly's idea about sharing our lives and it has been so much fun digging up old pictures! Again, for those of you stopping by for the first time, I had to scan these pictures in, AAHHHH, I know, so sorry for the poor quality!

My husband was very sweet and didn't smash cake in my face (although he was threatened with bodily harm had he done so). Our reception was short and sweet with the usual, first dance, food, cake, etc. A lot of people left early because we were so close to New Orleans and they wanted to see the city. We stayed our first night in New Orleans before heading out on our cruise!

This is my hubby's best friend and thought I would include this picture of "uncle" scott because our first born is named Jackson Scott after him!!!!
We headed out on a cruise to see Montego Bay, Cosumel, and Grand Cayman. Did I mention that we got married on September 8, 2001!? Yes, that's right, that means that we were headed out to sea on the 9th not knowing, of course, that our lives and world would change forever in just 2 days. I will never forget waking up on the morning of the 11th and making my way to get some breakfast to bring back to the room. There was a t.v. in the dining room and as I waited for my gourmet omlet, I saw the footage of the first world trade center attack. I left my omlet on the grill and ran back to our cabin to tell my hubby there had been a plane crash. At this point no one knowing what evil terrorism had taken place. We turned on our cabin television and watched in horror as the towers collapsed. Needless to say, that put a huge damper on our honeymoon. WE couldn't get in touch with family. We felt alone, disconnected, scared, and unsure about our new future together in the wake of this horrible event. The cruise held a memorial service and kept news footage rolling. We still enjoyed some amazing sunsets together and tried to have fun snorkeling and swimming with the sting rays, but all in all it was hard to not be able to be home with family during this horrible time for our nation.

Most of my pictures are already in a scrapbook so I just scanned in some pages. We were on the Carnival Inspiration. Every night when we went back to the cabin, our towels were cute little critters on our bed. It was nice to have a big window so I could keep my barrings. I was only sea sick for 1 day and then adjusted. I did miss the lobster dinner though because it was a rough day at sea and I was sick in the cabin.

Have a blessed and wonderful weekend!!!

it's friday! and you know what that means...

So here is our master bedroom! I LOVE the color and have to give my husband all the credit. I picked a baby blue that was all wrong and he chose this fabulous sherwin williams color, oyster bay! I thought it looked terrible on the swatch and was shocked at how much I loved it when it went on the walls. I loved it so much we had the ceiling done too!!!

My bedding is a hodge podge and really worked out quite well considering none of it was purchased together and in fact spans the last 5 years or so. The duvet was on clearance at BB&B for dirt cheap and I didn't get anything that went with it because it was an odd peice on sale. I ended up getting the shams and blue quilt on sale at pottery barn for 75% off!!!! A total steal and couldn't believe how well it matched the wall color. The throw pillows are marshalls and wait until you see the fabric I found for drapes to tie it all together!!!!

It is kind of hard to tell but the drapes are the most fabulous synthetic silk stripes in blue and bronze. They match the duvet and the shams perfectly and It looks like I actually planned all of this together! It all just came together after 4 years! I sewed the drapes myself and was so proud that I even blackout lined them!

These are the only pictures I have on the wall as of yet. Still trying to decide a theme for the art and stuff. Not much in the way of accessories but that will come! Would LOVE any suggestions.

We go to the beach every year and I always look forward to getting a family picture. Last year turned out pretty good so I had them done in 11X14.

Need a statement peice for over the bed but haven't found that either.

Have a wonderful weekend!

show us where you live fridays...

so my living room is boring and messy and small and my bonus room is even worse. I decided to add a few more pictures of the most colorful room in our house, the playroom! I picked the colors and my husband designed the striped pattern. We painted together and tada! Still need to make some kind of curtain but overall, I LOVE this room...and so do the boys!
This bookshelf from pottery barn has been a life saver. No more toys int he living room and everything has it's place! Well worth the money.
These canvas pictures were a steal at Hobby Lobby last year. 6 bucks each!!!

I heart Uppercase Living and love this saying we put on the wall. Was supposed to match the orange and didn't come quite as close as we hoped for but still love it!

show us where you live

I so want to do this but am a few weeks behind on the tour of homes. Will put the link up and try to catch up on my own! What a great way to peek into people's lives and get some great decorating ideas too!! Check out Kelly's blog to see all the others!!

Here is a sneak peak at our playroom for the boys! John and I painted the room ourselves and the bookshelf is money well spent from pottery barn kids. The monkey prints are new and add a cute element to the room. When I saw them, I had to get them because the colors were so great!!! More pictures to come!

My best friend is an amazing photographer and this artwork was an awesome christmas gift 2 years ago! It was a total surprize and I will cherish them forever. They are the first thing you see when you walk into the playroom.
